the flume, cannon mountain and Clark's trading post

Today has been such a fun day! We set off early to drive to a nature park called the flume. It was a 2 mile trail with gorgeous waterfalls and stunning scenery. At times it got pretty steep but the weather was good to us and it was great to stretch out the legs and see a bit of New Hampshire. Parts of it made me feel like I was in the new forest somewhere as it all felt very familiar, except with people constantly mocking my accent! After a couple hours it got quite busy so we moved on to the second part of our ticket, cannon mountain. In the winter it's a really popular ski location but in the summer you can go up in the tramway to see the views, which were pretty stunning. The photos will never do it justice! We ate lunch and walked round on some crazy dangerous trails. There's no barriers stopping you from standing right on the edge of a rock - I could have so easily slipped and died there, but it made it better in that you could just enjoy the surroundings and the nature without manmade warnings and fences obstructing the view. It was pretty chilly right at the top observation tower but we got lucky with a clear view. The furthest they have clocked is 120 miles!
After this we piled back into the van to Clark's trading post. I wasn't sure what to expect here but it turned out to be a highlight of the day. We could easily have spent more time there! We got the steam train tour first, with the crazy wolf man. I think it was more for the kids but was still fun. We rushed over to the bear show which was so good! I was worried the bears would be sad but they genuinely looked happy to be there and to perform. They could ride on scooters, swing on a swing, hide in a tub, play frisbee and demand claps! It was very entertaining and made me smile and laugh. Then there was the water boats, where the boys took it upon themselves to fully soak us from the safety of land! They also had a Segway section which was a new experience although I wasn't very good at controlling the speed! We pottered around the shops for a while before heading home; all cute country stores and it was styled like a village - reminded me of Disneyland with the main walkway. The place thoroughly exceeded my expectations and I really wanted to bring a massive bear back with me but I don't think my luggage allowance covers it!
My evenings lately have been spent eating ice cream (nothing's changed) watching Samw concerts and dancing with them after. It's lots of fun and I like to pretend I've burned off some of the cookies I ate that day ;) I've also been swimming every day, pushing along who ever is out on the raft back and forth to try and not get morbidly obese by the time I return. I'm really settling into the swing of life here now, and seeing a bit more of the local area has been such a good day.

Hey chummies. I've been here over 2 weeks now and it's starting to feel like home. The days are flying by and I have a cute little day routine of naps between breakfast and lunch, afternoons on the beach and evenings round the campfire, in winni nest or venturing out somewhere. We went to belated 4th July fireworks on Saturday as there have been some crazy storms around here lately! I've had to invest in an umbrella and have been given the nickname English rain. We went to walmart today and that was quite the experience! Spent way too much money but it was all too good to leave behind ;) on Thursday we are taking a trip to weirs beach, which as I understand it has penny arcades and a pier and other cute things, should be a good night! Also trying to persuade people to come see transformers with me so I can experience an American movie theatre.
People laugh at the words I say and often don't understand what I'm talking about as I'm saying the word differently or using another word, but on the whole people are genuinely in love with the British accent. They find me fascinating - love actually is no exaggeration! 
I've noticed the radio stations here play some super old music- think delta Goodrum and howie day, but that might just be New Hampshire. It's like I've been transported back 10 years, as everything is rickety and old here, and I love it.
The ice cream shop is one of my favourite places to hang out, although a single scoop is literally around 5 scoops back home!! So I now get a mini for a whopping 75 cents! I am definitely putting on weight (but the shorts still fit just!)
The past week has been manic, both dining room girls were away so I was promoted to dining room manager with double sittings each meal! It was hectic and exhausting but still fun and I love talking to the guests.
On the cards for the next few weeks is a trip to fun spot and Meredith, and hopefully some trips further afield if I can bug people to take me! I've switched my day off now so hopefully that will help. There's talk of sky divot and white water rafting too!!
